The infamous criminal was nicknamed the Cocaine Godmother and became notorious for her ruthless killings of her husbands and lovers. Many fans of her story are now also discovering that Catherine Zeta-Jones also played Griselda in her movie Cocaine Godmother.

In the film they see Griselda form a close relationship with a woman named Carolina who becomes her best friend, confidant, and lover. The movie hints at Griselda being bisexual and torn between her love for Carolina and her need for a male influence in her life when it comes to her husbands.

The plot has left many asking if Griselda had a girlfriend in real life after they saw a softer side to the character around her female companion. However, the character was created solely for the movie and did not exist in the real world Griselda's life.

A rival to Pablo Escobar, Griselda's criminal life saw her live a life of luxury for her and her four children as well as her three husbands, before their grisly deaths. The drug lord was said to have earned $76million a month at her peak.

In real life Griselda's first husband Carlos Trujillo was a small-time forger of documents and a boozer. Griselda met him as a teenager while she worked in petty crime and sex work. The couple had three sons Osvaldo, Dixon and Uber together.

After Griselda and Carlos divorced, he was later murdered, reportedly due to a business dispute with his ex-wife. Alberto Bravo, Griselda' second husband, was a trafficker for the Medellin cartel and introduced her to the world she was later going to take by storm.

It was in 1975 that her second husband met a nasty end, which allowed Griselda to take control of the business. A violent confrontation with him over missing money from their illegal activities occurred in a Bogota nightclub car park and ultimately led to his death alongside his bodyguards. Griselda was also injured in the stomach but survived.

Her third husband Dario Sepúlveda is a key part of the Netflix series. The couple married in 1978 and with him she had her youngest son, Michael Corleone Blanco. Michael is Griselda's only surviving son, with her other three from her first marriage dying due to their criminal activity after following in their mother's footsteps.

Sepúlveda eventually left Griselda in 1983 and returned to Colombia, but not before he kidnapped Michael when he and Blanco disagreed over who would have custody. Blanco allegedly paid to have Sepúlveda assassinated in Colombia, and her son returned to her in the US.

Dario Sepúlveda, was killed in 1983 in Medellín, the same year that he and Griselda separated. The Miami New Times reported that Dario was killed by men pretending to be police officers. Whilst not a husband, there was one longterm relationship towards the end of Griselda Blanco's life that didn't end with murder or violence.

The convicted drug criminal met Charles Cosby after he initially wrote to her whilst she was in prison. Griselda wrote back saying she was interested and he should come to the prison to visit her. A romance ensued, with Charles reportedly paying the guards $1,500 a visit to let them see each other and be intimate.

When Griselda found out she was being cheated on, her anger turned to violence and used her son to set up Charles, before later putting out a hit on him which he managed to survive. Whilst the couple later reconciled and overcame their issues with Charles apologising, their relationship fell into rocky territory after he was later subpoenaed to testify against Griselda after her hitman Jorge “Rivi” Rivera turned informant.
